Why You Should Compare All The Best Cable TV Providers

By Geoff Morova

All told, between the big cable TV providers and whatever local cable companies that are left, there are currently less than 60 cable companies left in the U.S. with the top 5 best cable TV providers currently being Comcast, Time-Warner, Comcast, Cox and Cablevision (in that order as of 2008 according to Wikipedia). Since these numbers are definitely out of date as of the time of this article, they don’t include AT&T U-Verse or Verizon FiOS which have both grown considerably in the last few years, nor do they include satellite TV providers like DISH Network or DirecTV which, while TV providers in their own right, aren’t technically a cable TV provider.

Why You Should Compare

The point to any comparison between companies is to determine which one will give you the best services for the least amount of money. In today’s economy, it’s easy to let money slip through our fingers because of inattention, like not driving that extra block to find the better price on gas, but as expensive as everything is, especially gas, a little extra effort can go a long way. Finding the best cable TV providers is a matter of doing some research to see who is going to give you the best overall deal.

Drawbacks To Cable

One drawback you’ll come across when trying to determine which cable company to go with is the fact that more often than not your choices for cable are limited. You’ll find that you only have access to four or maybe five TV providers with two of those being satellite TV. If you’re dead set on going with the best cable TV providers, you may only have access to one, especially in small towns and rural areas. When this is the case, you don’t get much of a choice after all. That means getting the best deal on your TV is going to be extremely limited after all.

The Good About Cable

However, for those in bigger cities where there are choices, finding the best cable TV provider is going to be a matter of comparing channel packages, bundled services, picture quality and customer service quality. On the whole, you’ll find more similarities between companies than differences although the differences are what will give you the information you’ll need to make your decision. For instance, if you’re the type to use internet services and streaming media, you’ll want to connect with the cable provider that gives you the best internet speed. If you’re in an area where you get Charter, you can get up to 25mb/s which are the fastest in the industry as of the time this article was written. Other cable companies like Comcast run at 15mb/s and ATT U-Verse now goes up to 24 mb/s.

Find The Company That Stands Out

You’ll want to look at the bottom line to see just how much your TV services are going to cost you every month. When you break everything down and look at what you’re paying for phone service, for internet and for TV, you’ll find that one company will stand out over the other by comparing TV providers.
